‘Wayne Rooney is not fit enough to lead the frontline’ Twitter BLASTS Manchester United captain’s performance against Aston Villa

Wayne Rooney has come in for criticism for his performance during Manchester United‘s 1-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League on Friday night.

The Red Devils maintained their 100% start to the new season as a first-half goal from Adnan Januzaj, who was recalled to the starting line-up ahead of Ashley Young for the game at Villa Park, was enough to give the side their second straight win of the campaign.

While the young attacking midfielder will grab all the plaudits for his match-winning contribution, the same can’t be said for his teammate Rooney as the England international failed to make an impact on the game.

A stat provided by Mail Sport showed the 29-year-old was extremely ineffective in the final third as he failed to have a shot on target throughout the entire 90 minutes and further enhances United’s need to buy a new striker before the transfer window closes.
