Manchester United star living worst nightmare at Old Trafford in Real Madrid transfer saga

Manchester United star David De Gea is living out his worst nightmare at Old Trafford amid interest from Real Madrid, reports Marca [via the Daily Star].

The 24-year-old has been separated from the rest of Louis van Gaal’s squad, and doesn’t understand why his manager won’t let him leave for the Bernabeu. The Dutchman recently revealed that his goalkeeper won’t be leaving the club this summer [BBC].

“I think when Manchester United wants a player he shall come, besides when a club isn’t selling,” said the former Barcelona boss.

“It is the same with us. We are not selling De Gea.”

However, the 63-year-old still didn’t pick the former Atletico Madrid man to play in their 0-0 draw with Newcastle United. Sergio Romero was preferred between the sticks for United, and although the Argentina international kept a clean sheet, it remains to be seen whether he could reach the standards De Gea managed over the course of last season.

The Spain international has just one year left on his contract with the Red Devils, meaning that this summer is their last chance to get a sizeable fee for their star player. This has made United’s stance harder to understand for De Gea, according to Marca, although, the Spanish publication believes that a transfer could still be agreed before the window slams shut.

One offer which could tempt the Premier League sides into selling their star player would involve Los Merengues ace Keylor Navas. According to the Daily Mail, the Liga BBVA outfit are willing to use the Costa Rica international in a part-exchange deal to acquire the 24-year-old Spaniard.
