Arsenal injury crisis: Steve Bould forced to train with Gunners first-team ‘to make up numbers’

Posted by

As standard, Arsenal have been hit with a number of injuries to their senior squad at the beginning of the season, with Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck among the notable names to be spending the next few months in the recovery room.

To add to the list, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have recently been struggling with niggling issues, and their absence was extremely noticeable in training earlier this week.

The defensive duo could return for the clash with Stoke City on Saturday, but if these latest snaps are anything by, they are not guaranteed to feature.

Assistant Arsenal manager Steve Bould joined in first-team training on Friday, and according to Arsenal youth blogger Jeorge Bird, he was there to make up the numbers in defence.

The possible unavailability of Mertesacker and Koscielny would likely see Arsene Wenger call Gabriel Paulista and Calum Chambers into action – and hopefully the pair learned a thing or two from Bould.
