Liverpool scare off Barcelona with big price-tag placed on Nou Camp target

Barcelona will not make a January move for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho due to the Anfield side’s valuation of the Brazilian according to talkSPORT.

The 23-year-old is arguably Liverpool’s most bankable asset and having seen Luis Suarez join Barcelona, and Raheem Sterling leave for Man City, the Merseyside club are understandably jittery when it comes to Europe’s ‘Elite’ registering an interest in their star performers.

New boss Jurgen Klopp will fight tooth and nail to keep Coutinho who is Liverpool’s most effective creative attacking talent.

Previous boss Brendan Rodgers brought in Coutinho in a bargain buy £8.5m deal back in January 2013 and the pint-sized playmaker has matured into a top player since moving to England, with his career threatening to stagnate at Inter Milan.

The loss of Suarez in the summer of 2014, and the poor record of those brought in with funds made from the Uruguayan’s sale, effectively led to Liverpool moving backwards after their impressive Premier League runners-up finish in 2013/14 and the sale of Coutinho would be certainly further damage the club.
