Liverpool star responds to international coach after high-profile snub; Kaka picked instead

Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho has responded to Dunga after the Brazil coach overlooked the Reds playmaker for the international break.

The Selecao’s match against Argentina—a World Cup 2018 qualifier—was meant to take place last night, was postponed due to bad weather.

The Brazil squad have undergone their preparations without Coutinho, who was overlooked by coach and World Cup 1994-winning captain Dunga.

The coach instead selected veteran legend Kaka, and explained his choice as such: “You cannot leave an empty seat. If the guy comes in, sits down and plays well he will remain in the squad. The players have to seize their opportunities.”

Our sister site and Liverpool fan blog Empire of the Kop, interprets the manager’s comments as a tacit indication that Coutinho hasn’t been up to scratch.

However, the 23-year-old has responded with dignity to the manager’s decision, and Coutinho’s response to Dunga after his Brazil snub can be read in full on Empire of the Kop.
