Ronaldo ready to snub PSG for Manchester United return

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly willing to turn his back on a move to Paris Saint-Germain in order to return to Manchester United, according to reports.

Red Devils coach Louis van Gaal admitted recently that he would be open to signing Ronaldo, and the Dutch coach may be in luck, with the Sunday Mirror Sport reporting that the Real Madrid superstar is enthralled by the prospect of donning the famous red of United once again.

“Ronaldo plays on the wings and he is fast and scores goals. There is no trainer in the world that doesn’t like him,” van Gaal said last weekend, as per the Mirror.

“Of course we are looking—but we are looking at all players, not just Ronaldo. But these players are mostly ungettable,” he continued.

“With Ronaldo, let’s wait and hope.”

The Mirror report this Sunday, that even though Paris Saint-Germain have made it clear that they are willing to break the bank in order to bring Ronaldo to the Parc des Princes—with the tabloid quoting an eye-watering salary of £500,000 per week—the French giants could be left disappointed in their quest to replace the star power of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose contract ends next summer.

However, while his heart may be tempting him to consider a return to Old Trafford, is a switch back to join the Red Devils a realistic option for Ronaldo?

With the Mirror reporting that Real are keen to recoup the majority of the £80 million they paid to bring the forward to the Bernabeu from Old Trafford, it remains to be seen whether United would—or could—stretch to sign him.

For PSG however—one of Europe’s genuine financial giants—there would be much less of a concern.
