Manchester United are understood to be monitoring Gary Neville’s progress at Valencia as they draw up a succession plan for Louis van Gaal.

The Dutch coach currently has a contract at Old Trafford that runs until 2017, and according to the Mirror, is expected to leave when his current deal comes to an end.

Various names have been considered as a replacement for the Dutch coach, and an appealing option for fans may be Neville, who is a Red Devils legend.

The Mirror report on Saturday that United officials will be keeping a close eye on Neville’s progress over the rest of the season—the ex-defender only has a contract until June 2016—as they consider him as a potential replacement for LVG.
