Liverpool are keen to harness the influence of manager Jurgen Klopp in a bid to beat Arsenal to the signature of Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, according to the Metro.
Icardi has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners recently, as manager Arsene Wenger reportedly prepares a big money move to land his signature in the new year.
However, reports in Spain suggest that Liverpool are also keen on snapping he Argentine up and will use the charismatic Klopp to smooth along proceedings.
And the Metro hints that the player himself could favour a move to Anfield over Arsenal because of the opportunity to work with the former Borussia Dortmund boss, leaving the Gunners massively frustrated.
But Inter Milan are keen to hang on to the striker beyond the January transfer window despite the fact that he has only managed to hit four goals in 12 games so far this term.
