Serie A giants keen on extending stay of Chelsea starlet

Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah has seemingly impressed enough during his loan spell with Napoli to warrant the Italian club wanting to extend his deal.

According to Corriere dello Sport, as reported by the Daily Star, the Partenopei are keen on extending his current season-long loan deal into next year.

The 21-year-old has only featured for Maurizio Sarri on three occasions, with all three outings coming in the Europa League as Napoli advanced to the knockout stages of the tournament with ease.

However, he particularly caught the eye after getting on the scoresheet against Legia Warsaw in the final game of the group stage, and will hope that he can build on that moving forward.

Despite his lack of influence and opportunities on the pitch, Chalobah has clearly done enough to earn the trust and faith of the coaching staff in Naples, if the reports are true.

Meanwhile, a longer stay in Italy would potentially be beneficial to the talented youngster if his chances of breaking into the team at Stamford Bridge remain unlikely.

Nevertheless, it could also be said that the England Under-21 starlet will have plenty of work to do with the Serie A outfit to oust the likes of Jorginho and Allan from the starting line-up.

Despite a recent dip in form, Napoli have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign both at home and abroad, as they also sit in third place in the league standings and remain four points adrift of leaders Inter.
