EPL side want Tottenham outcast and Liverpool transfer target to bolster season hopes

Watford look set to be one of the Premier League’s busiest sides during the January transfer window, as they look to invest ahead of the second half of the campaign.

The high-flying Hornets have been linked with two wide talents on Sunday, with the Daily Mail suggesting that Quique Flores is weighing up moves for two players who could have a transformative effect on the newly promoted side’s season.

One is Tottenham Hotspur outcast Andros Townsend, who has been exiled from the Spurs first team by coach Mauricio Pochettino following an altercation with one of the Argentine’s backroom staff.

The 24-year-old is understood to be the priority for Flores, although it remains to be seen whether Watford and Spurs can reach an agreement; the Hornets are keen on a loan deal, while it remains to be seen whether Tottenham would sanction anything other than a permanent departure.

Even if they do move for Townsend, Watford would likely face competition from the likes of Sunderland, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton, all of whom have been linked to the attacker.

Another option for Watford is Lazio forward Keita Balde, who was linked with a move to Liverpool during the summer [talkSPORT].

The Spanish youngster—who is also eligible for Senegal—began his career with Barcelona, and is a wonderfully rounded talent, although it remains to be seen whether Watford would be willing to meet the club’s asking price of £18 million.
