Louis van Gaal may not win every game, but he has a knack for winning just about press conference. The Manchester United manager did not take kindly to reporters criticizing Wayne Rooney – especially after his brace against Newcastle United – and called out the naysayers at the end of his Wednesday sitdown.
After hearing enough comments about the Man United captain, LvG got into a verbal spat with one of the unseen reporters and walked off the stage, calling him “Fat Man” on the way off the stage – a true “dropping the mic” moment if the Dutch boss ever had one.
The reporters in attendance got a good chuckle out of the bizarre moment from Van Gaal before he disappeared from sight, essentially ending the presser.
Man United drew 3-3 with Newcastle United, surrendering the lead twice in the second half and settling for one point. Rooney recorded goals in consecutive games for the Red Devils for the first time since 2014 in the process.
