Manchester United hero could snub Old Trafford return for Euro rivals claims expert

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is more likely to move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer rather than former club Manchester United.

That is the opinion of Sky Sports expert Guillem Balague, who responded to a question about the Portuguese international’s future in a Q&A.

Ronaldo’s future has been up for debate in recent months, as an exit from the Bernabeu has seemingly become more of a possibility.

In turn, Balague believes that PSG are in the best position to sign him should he decide to leave, although they have yet to reach any agreement with Madrid.

“No, this is not true. At the moment, PSG are the club that are trying to put a big financial offer in place. I personally think that PSG have convinced Ronaldo, but they obviously have to put it all in financial terms and convince Real Madrid too. A lot of the deal has not been done and there is no guarantee it will happen yet.”

The 31-year-old has been in great form yet again this season, scoring 42 goals and providing 13 assists in 40 appearances in all competitions.

Despite his advancing years, it doesn’t appear as though he is suffering with any form of a rapid decline, and so he will naturally still be of interest to the top clubs around Europe if there is a chance that he would leave the Spanish capital.

While a return to United would seem like an obvious option given the success that he enjoyed at Old Trafford in his spell there under Sir Alex Ferguson, PSG’s financial muscle and ability to compete both at home and abroad in the next few seasons would unsurprisingly make them a favourite.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not Ronaldo looks for a fresh challenge ahead of next season, with Zinedine Zidane also having a headache of his own having to find a system to suit Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema while keeping the likes of James Rodriguez and Isco happy too.
