Tottenham Hotspur face the embarrassment of finishing below Arsenal for a 22nd straight season.
Needing just a draw to secure second place and the North London bragging rights, Spurs have fallen behind at Newcastle United.
To make matters worse for Tottenham, Newcastle’s goal – scored on 19 minutes by Georginio Wijnaldum – was the result of an error by Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld has been close to flawless throughout his debut season with Spurs, but this header was pathetic.
Arsenal have taken the lead at home to Aston Villa, so, if the Gunners hang on to lead and Spurs lose, St Totteringham’s Day will be celebrated in the red half of North London tonight.
