Antonio Conte closing in on £80m double swoop to boost Chelsea hopes

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is reportedly confident of securing the signings of both Leicester City ace N’Golo Kante and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Italian tactician took his first press conference as Chelsea boss on Thursday, and as he continues to prepare his squad for their pre-season schedule, he could step up activity in the transfer market.

According to The Sun, the Blues are closing in on the £30m signing of Kante after agreeing on the fee with the Foxes.

Despite the Premier League champions offering the French international a new contract worth £100,ooo-a-week, it is noted that he wants to move to Chelsea and work with Conte.

Elsewhere, The Sun also add that the west London outfit have switched their focus from Leonardo Bonucci to Koulibaly, although they will have to dig deep into their pockets to sign the commanding centre-half.

Napoli are said to be looking for £50m to sell the Senegalese international, and that would indeed match Chelsea’s record transfer for Fernando Torres in 2011.

Despite interest from rivals Everton, Chelsea believe that they’re in pole position to sign Koulibaly, as noted in the report, although they will evidently have to splash out in order to prise him away from Naples.

It remains to be seen whether or not Conte can finally land two of his top targets, as it has been a frustrating summer thus far in terms of the wait for new arrivals.

Michy Batshuayi has already arrived at Stamford Bridge, but in order to ensure that Chelsea compete at the top of the Premier League table this season, Conte will be fully aware that more reinforcements are likely needed in order to freshen things up and respond to their rivals in the transfer market.
