Tottenham are toying with the idea of a £21.4 million move for Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu according to the Bild.

The transfer rumour has now been confirmed by the Turkish international attacking midfielder’s agent Bektas Demirtas.

Demirtas stated that Spurs have shown an interest in his client to German publication Express: “It is true that Tottenham have registered their interest with me.”

The 22-year-old has another three-years remaining on his contract and the Bundesliga outfit will only accept their asking price.

In a recent interview with the BILD, Calhanoglu could not rule out leaving Bayer over the summer transfer window.

When asked if he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen, Calhanoglu responded by saying: “You never know in football what will happen.”

Calhanoglu is keen on playing in England and Spain but Spurs could end up facing competition from North London rivals Arsenal who are also in the race according to TalkSport.

The 22-year-old has established himself as one of the most feared free-kick specialists in European football scoring 11 direct set-piece goals in the Bundesliga.
