Manchester City star David Silva became the fifth all-time top scorer for the Spanish national team after finding the back for the 28th time in the 8-0 win over Liechtenstein in their opening World Cup 2018 qualification game.
Silva overtook his former Valencia team-mate Fernando Morientes who was previously fifth on 27 goals.
The City man revealed that he has Morientes to thank for his goal scoring prowess and referred to the former Champions League winner as his ‘teacher’.
