Real Madrid claim ‘magnificent relationship’ with Manchester United

by stresster on May 28th, 2008 no comments

Try telling that to Sir Alex Ferguson who last week described the Spanish club’s actions as immoral, due to their persistence in trying to land Cristiano Ronaldo. However, once again, Real have held their hands up and claimed there is no wrongdoing on their part. Sky Sports report a clear attempt by the Primera Liga champions to smooth things over with their English counterparts, while cheekily maintaining that the Red Devils number seven has a problem at Old Trafford!

“We haven’t done, nor will we do anything against the wishes of a club that we consider a friend like Manchester United,” Ramon Calderon said on the club’s official website.

“Our relationship with Manchester is magnificent and we will not do anything that would violate the will of a team, just as we would not like that done to us.

“We know Manchester doesn’t want to sell and we have nothing to say. It’s a problem between the player and his team.”

Indeed, such a ‘problem’ will continue to exist until Cristiano Ronaldo pins his colours to the mast, something he seems reluctant to do right now, probably at the behest of his agent. As already predicted, COS reckon the player will stay at United for one more season in an attempt to help retain the Champions League trophy, before heading off for sunny Spain (where he’ll get the ball and score again).

Real Madrid to throw £160,000 per week to lure Ronaldo!

by sub on March 1st, 2008 7 comments

Now this is sensational news. Rather too sensational to be true. The Daily Star reports that Real Madrid are planning to throw £40 million to Manchester United in the summer to lure them to sell their Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Not only that but the Spanish giants and most successful club in European football history are also ready to make Ronaldo a £160,000 a week player should he decided to trade Old Trafford for the Santiago Bernabeu. At a staggering £8m-a-season salary, the 23-year old star would become the highest paid footballer in the world.

Sensational, isn’t it? But is it true? Possibly not. No one knows where all such rumours are originating from but they are probably that – rumours. Wasn’t it only last week that Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said that signing Ronaldo (and Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas) is impossible? Come on, give us a break, will you!?

Calderon: Signing Kaka or Ronaldo is impossible

by sub on February 25th, 2008 12 comments

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is quoted as saying that he no longer fosters the dream of laning either Kaka or Cristiano Ronaldo. AC Milan’s Kaka insists that he wants to remain at the San Siro while Manchester United are continuously fending off Real over the Ronaldo situation.

Calderon is quoted as saying:

Signing Kaka is impossible. I would not ask for either of those two players. It appears to me that to talk of impossibilities only causes frustration.

Last month Real sporting director Pedrag Mijatovic was reported as saying that signing the duo was “impossible” and now the Spanish giants’ President has admitted it. Man United fans, rest in peace. Amen.

Zidane back to Real Madrid?

by sub on January 30th, 2008 4 comments

Everyone knows about Zinedine Zidane’s contribution to the game of football as a player. Now Zizou wants to return to the game in a different role. But what role would he play now? The great Frenchman himself isn’t sure about his next role in football.

But he is sure that he will play some role in the sport before long. Goal.com reports that Zidane is eager to take up a coaching role at his former club Real Madrid. At the moment, he wouldn’t be drafted at the higher level of the footballing pyramid of course but talks are that Ziane will be asked to coach the kids and young players at the Spanish club.

Zidane told AS:

I want to return to football to help in any way I can be useful and Madrid still feels like my home.

Talks are already underway between Zidane’s agent and Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon and hopefully Zizou will be back in Madrid teaching the kids. Maybe after a few years the French maestro might just move into senior side management.

Real Madrid president pleads for caution

by sub on January 24th, 2008 no comments

Real Madrid are a club who have always been portrayed as ruthlessly arrogant with tall talks and big dreams from presidents. Although Ramon Calderon is not much different from his predecessors in these terms, he has a touch of caution in his constitution.

Goal.com reports that Calderon made an unscheduled visit to Real’s Valdebebas training complex on Wednesday to personally congratulate the players for the Madrid derby victory over Atletico at the weekend. Although the mood was one of buoyancy and confidence, Senor Calderon didn’t want to let complacency creep into his players’ psyche.

Goal.com quotes Calderon as saying this to his players:

”Congratulations, but we still have not won anything yet, eh?”

A very sensible thing to do. Real Madrid are a massive seven points clear at the top of the table in Spain and already seem to have one hand on the league trophy. But Calderon is certainly clever enough to note that in football there is no guarantee.

by sub on January 10th, 2008 1 comment

He is often ridiculously dubbed as a mere goal poacher by some while some even undervalued him but to the Real Madrid hierarchy, Ruud van Nistelrooy remains one of the most indispensable fragment of the team. President Ramon Calderon must he heaving a sigh of relief as the Dutch maestro has agreed to sign a contact extension with the club.

According to Sky Sports, van Nistelrooy has agreed to extend his contract with the reigning Spanish champions. Van Nistelrooy was not so much as walked out to the border as kicked out of the room by Manchester United and the player has stretched his legendary goal scoring feat at the Bernabeu too. Last season, van Nistelrooy won the Pichichi as he top scored in La Liga with 26 goals and this season, he has kissed the ball 8 times already into the back of the opposition net.

Van Nistelrooy had 18 months left on his contract with Real Madrid but has now agreed to stay for one more year at the Bernabeu. Now that the Dutch international striker has ascertained his future at the club, the madrididstas can expect goals galore from the 31-year old.
