Alan Hutton looks the part in Spurs defence a quality fullback with talent going forward and dealing with oncoming attackers. The Scot also showed great class in dealing with the maelstrom of controversy surrounding that horrible tackle from Ashley Cole.
Hutton said of the challenge: “He went to win the ball and I’ve just got there quicker. I wasn’t thinking about whether he would be sent off, I knew the challenge was high but so was the ball.
“I am not blaming him for it, I’ve probably done a similar challenge in my career. He said he never meant it afterwards and that’s fine with me.” (Daily Mail)
Well done Hutton for being the bigger man. I think it was clear for all to see just how bad the challenge from the former Arsenal man was but the Glasgow man decided to turn the other cheek and avoid apportioning blame and for that he deserves a bit pat on the back.
