Ramos prepares for life without Dimitar as he looks to this Russian to fill the void!
Spurs are set to turn to £12million-rated Russia striker Roman Pavlyuchenko as a replacement for Dimitar Berbatov.
Spurs’ sporting director Damien Comolli was reportedly in Moscow at the weekend to watch the striker in action as his Spartak Moscow side lose 5-1 to CSKA.
Comolli is also believed to have initiated talks with the 26-year-old’s agent Oleg Artyomov over a possible switch, reports today’s Evening Standard.
Berbatov, who played in Spurs’ 8-0 friendly win against Spanish side Tavernes last night, is expected to quit the club for Manchester United in a £28m deal although he will not be allowed to leave until a replacement is lined up. (Metro)
Clearly Spurs will not allow Berbatov to leave until they receive an offer they can’t refuse, but it does seem that Sir Alex is more than likely to get his man. With that being the case, Juande Ramos looks keen on Pavlyuchenko, who isn’t obviously the same kind of striker as the Bulgarian. However, he could be very effective in the Premier League and would surely work well with Robbie Keane.
Perhaps more importantly, he wouldn’t cost the earth and would leave funds for that seemingly endless struggle for David Bentley! So do Spurs fans like the idea of a move for Roman’s signature?
