This summer’s transfer window has seemingly helped highlight just how little loyalty there is in the game. Players are consistently playing their clubs for obscene amounts of money whilst holding the threat of a move above the club’s heads.
Cristiano Ronaldo has probably received the most stick for his actions this summer, after he tried to pander to Real Madrid and it’s good to see Sir Alex and Manchester United sticking by their guns on that one.
Many Arsenal players have decided that they need more money, so have descended on Wenger, demanding huge pay increases whilst totally undermining the structure in place at the club. Flamini ran off for more money, Hleb likewise and Adebayor seemingly wants to do the same.
Spurs star Dimitar has pretty much demanded a move and has apparently been fined for sulking now that his move has been thwarted by the board. Is this another example of a complete lack of loyalty?
Have the sums of money flooding the top tier of the game simply washed away any semblance of devotion to your club? Are contracts even more worthless?
