It’s final: Manchester City are no longer interested in the Brazilian international striker Ronaldo. City manager Mark Hughes made it crystal clear on Thursday that they are not looking to sign him at all.
Earlier this week there were confirmed reports that the now cash-stuffed Blues wanted to sign Ronaldo on a free transfer in January, but a Man City spokesman soon denied that the club were looking into this matter any further.
And if that statement didn’t dispel all the rumours, then Mark Hughes’ statement certainly should. The Welshman said on Thursday:
“A couple of months ago we were in preliminary talks with his advisers.
“The people surrounding him were keen to press his case while he was trying to get back to full fitness. I don’t think he’s fully fit even as we speak now.
“They were sounding out clubs who were interested in his situation. We had those discussions, but we won’t be pursuing it.”
So that’s it, then: No Ronaldo to Man City! Well, not the big Brazilian one anyway…
