Stoke City midfielder injured by his DOG!

It’s been a decent start to the season for the Potters, despite the fact that they reside in the bottom three of the Premier League. After all, they have landed a win against Villa, drew away to Liverpool and have shown enough to demonstrate that they can survive in the Premier League this season. However, they could do without freak events such as the below occurring, especially to one of their key players in the squad.

The Sentinel report that Liam Lawrence is likely to miss Sunday’s trip to Portsmouth, due to an incident with his pet dog. It appears that the mutt was standing on the stairs and, as the midfielder swerved to avoid him, something gave in his ankle.

City boss Tony Pulis explained: “He has stepped over his dog on the stairs and his ankle just gave way and he went over on it.

“The initial scan has shown no break but we have sent him back for another X-Ray to make sure.

“It could be a big blow for us, but hopefully it isn’t to bad.

“We don’t know how serious it is at the moment, he may be ok for Portsmouth then again he may not be fit, we will have to wait and see.”

Lawrence is important to the Stoke team, especially with his ability to whip a mean ball into the area from a free-kick or a corner. He’s also likely to weigh in with a fair few goals for City this season, although have you ever heard of a stranger way to get injured?!
