Spurs dealt a final CRUSHING blow in their attempt to sign £24m ace: He doesn’t want to play for a bottom-dweller!

Tottenham’s final dream of going after Russian striker Andrei Arshavin appear to have all but disappeared into thin air after Arshavin’s agent landed the final crushing blow this afternoon by telling all interested parties that his client will be seeking offers from ‘big four’ Champions League qualifiers ONLY!

Bottom of the League after their worst start for 96 years, manager Juande Ramos’s job hanging by a thread … and now sinking Spurs have learned they have no chance of bringing Andrei Arshavin to White Hart Lane in January to pair up with Russia strike partner Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Arshavin’s agent has dealt a crushing blow to Spurs’ plans of reopening talks with Zenit St Petersburg in the next transfer window to bring the Russian to England.

The Zenit star’s representative, Dennis Lachter, has revealed that the only clubs in England Arshavin would consider offers from would be the ‘big four’ Champions League qualifiers. (Daily Mail)

Well that should all but end Spurs’ chances of landing the Russian striker in January! After fighting all summer with Zenit over the transfer fee, it appears that Tottenham’s lack of winning will be the main reason behind the failed attempt to pair Pavlyuchenko with his Russian team-mate.

What do Spurs supporters think about the recent news? Are you surprised that Arshavin doesn’t want to come play at White Hart Lane?
