Manchester United prepared to pay winger a staggering £150,000-a-week to make Real Madrid go away: Will it be enough?

Sir Alex Ferguson has seen enough of the Ronaldo to Real Madrid links. Instead of fighting the Spanish club for his prized winger, Ferguson is set to do the unthinkable by offering Ronaldo a new contract that should keep him quiet and happy for the foreseeable future.

Real are ready to make a fresh move at the end of the season but Ronaldo says he is now looking to fulfil his ambitions at Old Trafford.

‘Last season was the best moment of my career but I know I can get even better,’ he told The Sun.

‘I want to score more, win more trophies. I’m at the right club for that.

‘Last season enabled me to achieve great things on many levels and I’m really happy.

‘I’m lucky as I have a great relationship with everyone at United.’

The new deal should end any and all speculation during the January window. For United supporters, the news couldn’t come soon enough, as the club was constantly having to look over the backs for Real Madrid.

Are United supporters excited about the new contract for Ronaldo? Is he the future of the club?
