Which Manchester United goalkeeper is worth his weight in gold?

27.05.2009.

That date could have special important for Manchester United supporters if everything falls into place. It could be the day the club goes for an unheard of quintuple against one of the other 15 remaining teams in the Champions League knockout stage. Aside from that it could be another nailbiting shootout like last season’s thriller against Chelsea, and if it is, one United keeper could go down in history as the one that ‘saved’ the record.

Which keeper would be worthy of that job?

Let’s take a look at the list:

Edwin van der Sar: He’s won the Premier League title twice, the FA Cup, Champions League and the Carling Cup, as well as Club World Cup. To put it plainly: the guy’s been around the block a couple of time and has done pretty well for himself.

Ben Foster: Foster may love looking at boobies for a living, but he also moonlights at up-and-coming goalkeeper in his spare time. He used an iPod to save United’s perfect season in the Carling Cup. That makes him a man of the 21st Century for goodness’ sake!

Tomasz Kuszczak: Did anyone know he was still at the club? He’s third in line behind VDS and Foster, but he still wants to be the number one keeper. Keep dreaming, buddy. He’s known more for the straight red he got against Pompey in the FA Cup than anything else. That’s saying a lot.

So which Manchester United keeper would you want in net with the quintuple on the line? Let us know in the comment box below.
