Emanuel Pogatetz is set to be offered a return to the Premier League three years after leaving Middlesbrough with Fulham keen on signing the Austrian international.

Pogatetz spent five years at Middlesbrough before leaving to joining Hannover in Germany in 2010 and he has been in the Bundesliga ever since, most recently with Wolfsburg who he joined at the start of the season.

The 31-year-old has struggled to hold down a first-team place at Wolfsburg, however, and was set to make the switch across Germany to Nurnburg this month only for the deal to fall through. According to the Daily Mail, Fulham are now set to sign him and beat off competition from Wigan and Aston Villa in the process.

Fulham have also been linked with a £1.3million swoop for PSV Eindhoven’s Bulgarian international full-back Stanisalv Manolev. The 27-year-old has two years left on his contract, but would be open to a move to the Premier League with Fulham.

“Fulham would be a beautiful club for him,” his agent Mino Raiola told Voetbal International. “But at the moment there’s nothing concrete.”
