Norwich City are in talks to sign striker Luciano Becchio from Leeds United and are preparing a cash plus Steve Morison deal.

Although Norwich finally made a breakthrough in the transfer market on Wednesday when signing forward Kei Kamara on loan for the remainder of the season from MLS side Sporting Kansas City, they have also targeted signing Becchio according to Sky Sports.

Becchio handed in a transfer request to Leeds earlier in the month and was rumoured to be on his way to Turkey. But the interest from Norwich is set to mean 29-year-old Argentine Becchio will get a chance to impress in the Premier League.

The deal to sign Becchio will include Welsh international forward Morison heading in the opposite direction to Elland Road after being made surplus to requirements at Norwich.

Morison was a regular under Paul Lambert last season, but has struggled to impress new manager Chris Hughton this season, making just four starts.

Norwich had also tried to use Morison has a makeweight in their bid to sign Gary Hooper from Celtic, but three bids for the striker have been turned down. A bid for Swansea City’s Danny Graham also failed, while there was some interest in Queens Park Rangers’ Jamie Mackie.
