Spurs midfielder has no regrets for rejecting Liverpool last summer.
Tottenham midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has insisted he made the right decision last summer when he chose to move to Tottenham ahead of Liverpool, according to talkSport.
The former Swansea midfielder had been expected to join up with ex-Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool but surprised many when he instead opted to join the ranks at White Hart Lane.
But the player insists he has no regrets over the matter, despite initially struggling to make an impact at the London club.
‘It was hard to turn down Liverpool because I know Brendan’, said Sigurdsson.
‘It was more about that than any of the history Liverpool have.
‘When Tottenham came in, I had seen how they were last year and in the previous two years.
‘They finished fourth last year and were unlucky not to get Champions League football, and you could see tonight that this is a great club with fantastic players.
‘I’m really pleased I made that choice. There are so many good players here and hopefully we can be in the Champions League next season.’
Sigurdsson has been enjoying an extended run in the Tottenham starting eleven recently after some impressive performances against the likes of Arsenal and Inter Milan. The player is now seemingly enjoying his football and his confidence looks to be growing in every game.
