Left-Back keen on English top tier switch.

Saint Etienne left-back, Faouzi Ghoulam has welcomed news linking him with a summer switch to the Premier League, Sky Sports understands.

The 22-year-old has been a central figure in the club’s good form this season and has attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.

Stoke and Fulham were taking closer looks during the January transfer window and are both said to be prepared to make offers at the end of the season. Italian giants Udinese are also said to be monitoring his situation.

The French born Algerian international has made 22 appearances this season and has spent his entire career with Saint Etienne after coming through the youth ranks and breaking into the first team in 2010.

Ghoulam won his first cap for Algeria in a World Cup qualifier this week against Benin, and he sees international recognition as a platform for attracting bigger clubs; “There is interest from the Premier League and I welcome that. It means I am doing well with my club,” he said, “if I can add the level of playing well with a national team, more clubs will be interested.”

Predominantly a left-back, he can also operate on the left side of midfield as well as further forward in attack. He is contracted until 2016 but a fee of £5 million may be enough prize him away from Les Verts.
