White Hart Lane club keen to bring in Brazilian striker.
Tottenham have been buoyed by the news that Internacional are preparing for the summer departure of Leandro Damiao according to Sky Sports.
The White Hart Lane club are known to be long term admirers of the Brazilian striker and have attempted to bring him to Tottenham during the last two transfer windows.
A move in the last January transfer window broke down after the two clubs failed to agree a fee for the player but Tottenham are preparing a renewed bid for the player come the summer.
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer after playing the current season with just two recognised strikers.
The club have struggled for goals from their strikers after Jermain Defoe’s good form dried up following the turn of the year and the disappointing performances of Manu Adebayor.
Tottenham are likely to face competition for the player’s signature from Italian club Napoli.
The Serie A side see Damiao as an ideal replacement for Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani who is expected to make a mega bucks move to one of Europe’s top clubs this summer.
That could drive up the player’s price with Internacional hoping to secure at least £17 million for Damiao.
