Former France legend and Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane has heaped the praise on Tottenham’s Gareth Bale according to The Daily Mail.
The Welsh winger has been in dazzling form for the club this season as he looks to help them on their way to a top four finish and Champions League qualification.
Bale netted a stunning winner for Spurs at the weekend against Swansea, taking his tally for the season to 22. That victory has taken them back above Chelsea into third place in the Premier League.
Spurs also have a good chance of winning the Europa League as they face off against Swiss side Basel in the competition’s quarter-finals on Thursday.
Zidane has now added his name to the long list of the Welshman’s admirers by claiming that Bale has been the best player in Europe this year.
Tottenham fans may be reluctant to hear the praise though. Zidane is currently director of football at Real Madrid and the Spanish giants have been strongly linked with a summer move for the player.
Reports in recent months have suggested that Barcelona and Real are set to bid as much as £60 million in an attempt to bring the player to La Liga.
