Tottenham’s Heurelho Gomes Interested In PSV Move

Brazilian goalkeeper keen on return to former club.

Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is reportedly ready to consider a move back to his former club PSV Eindoven, according to Sky Sports.

Reports in recent days had suggested that the Dutch club were ready to make a move this summer for the Brazilian goalkeeper.

Gomes arrived at White Hart Lane from PSV in 2008 with a reputation as one of the finest shot stoppers in the air.

But while he is undoubtedly talented at reflex saves, his erratic aerial abilities cost his side a number of points.

The player has gone on to become somewhat of a peripheral figure at the club and has fallen behind the likes of Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel in the White Hart Lane pecking order.

Gomes joined Hoffenheim on a six month loan deal during the January transfer window but suffered a broken hand last month in a game against Fortuna Dusseldorf and looks unlikely to play again this season.

He is now reportedly ready to seal a permanent move away from Tottenham and believes the Premier League club are unlikely to stand in his way.

PSV reportedly came in for Gomes a couple of years ago but were put off by the Tottenham’s £8 million asking price.

The club are likely to demand significantly less than that now with Gomes’ contract set to expire at the end of next season.

‘I’m in no hurry and take the time to take the right decision,’ said Gomes.

‘At PSV, I experienced the best time of my career. I’ve always said that I would return to PSV. Maybe that time is now.

‘This is an important choice. But first I have to recover from my injury. Next season I want to be in top shape at a new club.

‘My contract at Tottenham Hotspur is only for one more year. I think Tottenham wants to contribute to my leaving now. At this stage of my career, money is not the most important thing. And I have something to offer. I have five or six good years ahead.’
