Real Madrid are also interested in the 26-year-old, and it will be hard to find many other clubs who could afford his enormous £60million transfer fee.
City have made their interest in him very clear, and are looking at offering backup striker Edin Dzeko to the Italians in return, which may give them the edge in pushing a deal through.
