Valencia striker Roberto Soldado has reaffirmed his desire to stay with the club this summer despite heavy interest from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, Sky Sports reports.

Spurs are on the hunt for new striking options following the disappointing form of Emmanuel Adebayor and have been linked with a number of forwards from around Europe, with Soldado thought to be high on the list.

However, the 28-year-old, who is currently on Confederations Cup duty with Spain, spoke of his desire to stay at the Mestalla this summer.

“It is clear for me that I want to stay here and help Valencia return to the Champions League, where we deserve to be,” Soldado told Valencian newspaper Super Deporte.

“That is despite the fact that we have not achieved our aim of doing that this season.”

Reports coming from England have said that Spurs are set to offer £20 million for the former Real Madrid man to test the club’s resolve, and whilst Soldado favours staying, his coach, Miroslav Djukic, is apparently willing to listen to offers for the player in order to fund moves elsewhere in the transfer market.

Soldado bagged an impressive 30 goals in 49 appearances for Valencia last season.
