Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto could be subject to a £6million bid from Turkish club Fenerbache, according to the Daily Mail.

The 29-year-old will be out of contract at the end of next season, and could be available for cheap after falling out of favour with Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas this year.

The Portuguese coach has often preferred Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Naughton in the left-back spot, and may hand a first-team opportunity to Danny Rose next season, after the youngster impressed on loan for Sunderland this season.

The club have also been linked with Inter Milan left-back Alvaro Pereira, who played under Villas-Boas in their time together at Porto, giving clear signals that Assou-Ekotto is surplus for requirements at White Hart Lane.

Monaco have also expressed an interest in the Cameroon international, though Fenerbache will apprently step up their interest and try to push a deal through this weekend.

Assou-Ekotto could be one of many squad players to be sold this summer, with doubts over the futures of Emmanuel Adebayor, Scott Parker, Clint Dempsey and Jake Livermore also arising.

It has also emerged that Sunderland will look to replace loan star Rose with former Spurs left-back Reto Ziegler.
