The agent of former AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini has confirmed that his client is in talks with West Ham United ahead of a possible summer move, Sky Sports reports.

The 36-year-old was released by the Serie A giants this week ending his 18-year association with the club and Sam Allardyce has kept a close eye on his situation over the past few weeks.

Several clubs in the MLS are also said to be interested in bringing the Italian international to the United States, but Ambrosini’s agent,  Moreno Roggi, has revealed that heading across the Atlantic, or retirement, are options for his client.

“Obviously Massimo wants to continue,” Roggi told the Calciomercato website.

“His preference would be overseas clubs, but if an offer did come in from an Italian side, we would not ignore it completely.

“At this moment we are in talks with West Ham, while we have already ruled out Major League Soccer.”

Ambrosini, who made his debut for the Rossoneri in 1995, made 489 appearances during his time at the San Siro and won a plethora of titles including four Serie A championships and two Champions League trophies.

He had been linked with West Ham last month when he was spotted at Stanstead Airport posing with Hammers fans but talks went cold.
