French club have not done enough says advisor.
The agent of controversial midfielder Joey Barton has blasted his former club Marseille by saying that they could have done a lot more to sign him on a permanent basis, according to talkSPORT.
The 30-year-old spent last season on loan with the French giants, where he helped the club to a second placed finish by making 25 appearances from midfield and his agent, Willie McKay, believes that the outspoken Liverpudlian became one of their most popular players.
His loan agreement ended at the end of the season with the club claiming that they would look to offer him a more permanent deal, which has yet to materialise, forcing him back to parent club QPR.
And McKay has laid into the Ligue 1 giants after their passivity following his return to England.
“We are still in negotiations with Queens Park Rangers over the career of Joey,” McKay is quoted as saying on le10sport.
“But I am very surprised by OM and the president [Vincent] Labrune. I thought the club would make a bigger effort for him.
“He is liked by everyone at the club. After Mathieu Valbuena, he is the most popular player with supporters. He deserves better from Marseille.”
