The midfielder spent last season on loan with French club Marseille.
Joey Barton is hoping to move to his beloved Everton and will half his current wages in order to make it happen, the Daily Mirror reports.
The midfielder is back at QPR after spending last season on loan at Marseille and Hoops manager Harry Redknapp is considering putting him in the team for the clubs Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
However, Barton wants to leave QPR as he doesn’t want to play in the Championship and is hoping to make a move to Everton, the club he supported when he was a boy.
He has already contacted Toffees boss Roberto Martinez about a possible move and will take a 50% wage cut to make it happen.
The midfielder has been linked with Everton on several occasions, with former Toffees boss David Moyes open to the idea of bringing the former Manchester City player to Goodison Park.
The move hasn’t happened before because of Barton’s wage demands but the player is willing to take a considerable pay cut to force through a move, asking for half of his £70,000 a week wages.
While Redknapp is considering playing him on Saturday, the Hoops would also like to get the player off their books as he hasn’t played for them for over a year.
