North London club are desperate to add more cover at the back for the new campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing in-demand Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches this summer, according to reports on talkSPORT.co.uk.
The north London club are currently on the look-out for defensive reinforcements at the back at White Hart Lane for next season, especially following the free transfer departure of experienced former France international William Gallas earlier this summer.
And according to reports in the Romanian press, Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas is eyeing up a shock move for the 23-year-old Chiriches, although the Premier League giants are facing competition for the Romania international’s signature from the likes of Serie A outfits AC Milan and AS Roma.
Chiriches has been playing for Steaua for the past two campaigns now, having originally arrived in the Romanian capital from CS Pandurii Târgu Jiu at the start of the 2011-12 season.
And in the intervening two-year period, the central defender has appeared in 57 matches in total in all competitions for Steaua, scoring four goals in the process, including one strike in his 40 league outings for the club.
Chiriches, who is contracted to Steaua until June 30 2015, has also been capped 18 times by his country since making his international bow two years ago and the centre back is valued at £6 million.
