White Hart Lane star on his way to the MLS.
Tottenham forward Clint Dempsey is set to join MLS side Seattle Sounders according to BBC Sport.
The 30 year old United States international struggled for form during his debut season at White Hart Lane and is reportedly about to make a Stateside return for a fee similar to the £6m that the North London side paid Fulham for his services a year ago.
Dempsey had impressed greatly in his final campaign at Craven Cottage, scoring 23 goals in all competitions, but has not had the best of times of it at Tottenham and Andre Villas-Boas is unlikely to stand in the player’s way if indeed he opts to move to Seattle.
The adaptable attacker scored 12 goals in all competitions last term but could well find himself playing a more limited role at Tottenham given the number of new additions Villas-Boas has brought in and the Portuguese boss may well make further signings if Gareth Bale joins Real Madrid.
Dempsey moved to the Premier League in January 2007 and has racked up 268 appearances and score 72 goals in English football.
Seattle Sounders will look to complete the deal before the MLS transfer window closes on August 8th.
