After failing to secure a deal for two Barcelona midfielders [Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas] this summer, Manchester United have turned their attention to David Moyes’ former employers, Everton, as they eye a double swoop for their star duo.

Despite United’s interest, it appears the Toffees are taking a firm stance on this transfer saga that has seen Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini linked with a move to Old Trafford, as the Blues have confirmed the pair are not for sale according to the Guardian.

Newly appointed Toffee’s boss Roberto Martinez recently told the Independent : “”There are no bids.”

“When you read that someone is interested in someone, it doesn’t mean there is a bid on the table. Marouane has been working really hard. Leighton Baines has been working really hard for the team and that’s all that matters.”

Roberto went on too add, “headlines in the media happen at this time of the season unfortunately but it won’t distract me from the work we have to do. I’m not bothered at all. It is speculation in the media and you’ll never stop that. I’ve said from day one as a manager you only concentrate on working hard.” (Independent)

A deal for the duo has been reported to set back the Red Devils £30million [£18million for Fellaini, £12million for Baines] but it still seems unlikely that Everton are interested in listening to any offers for their best players as they look to push forward on their sixth placed finish last campaign, above Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
