French giants Marseille have confirmed the signing of Evian striker Saber Khlifa, Sky Sports reports.

The 26-year-old is currently undergoing a medical with the southern side and will complete a €2.5 million deal upon its completion from fellow Ligue 1 side Evian.

“The agreement is subject to successfully passing the medical examination, which will take place this weekend,” Marseille said in a statement.

Khlifa scored 25 goals across all competitions for Evian last season and had thought to be a long time target for Montpellier, though a deal between the two had failed to materialise, and that’s where Marseille have swooped in.

His 13 Ligue 1 goals last season included an audacious 65-yard strike from his own half during a 4-0 win over Nice in May.

Marseille have already added four new faces to their squad this summer with the likes of Dimitri Payet, Benjamin Mendy and Gianelli Imbula all joining.

The 22-cap Tunisian international has spent the majority of his career in northern Africa with clubs like Esperance and Al-Ahly before making the move to France with Evian back in 2011.

Marseille have been in need of some added firepower after persistent injuries to Andre-Pierre Gignac have stopped him from being as prolific as he could be.
