Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign teenage sensation Alen Halilovic from Dinamo Zagreb this summer, according to the London Evening Standard.

Spurs are believed to have agreed a fee for the highly-rated 17-year old midfielder, dubbed the ‘new Luka Modric’ in his homeland Croatia, and are due to open talks with his reps this week. The London club thought they had agreed a deal to sign Halilovic, and teammate Ten Jedvaj earlier in the window for £17.1million, but the latter opted to join AS Roma.

According to Croatian paper Sportske Novosti, Spurs have agreed a £12.9million deal with Dinamo Zagreb for Halilovic. The family of the teenager wishes their son stays with Dinamo for the near future so he can continue to grow and develop. The previous deal to sign Halilovic was that he would join the Premier League side once he has turned 18, but the player looks set to remain in Croatia for the time being on loan.

Spurs have been active this transfer window, especially bolstering their midfield options, by bringing in Corinthians midfielder Paulinho for £17million already this summer, and now it appears as if Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue will also join the club for a fee in the region of £9million. Halilovic will join a group of talented youngsters at Spurs, with the likes of Tom Carroll and Harry Kane having already broke into the first-team.

To make way for all the new midfield additions, manager Andre Villas-Boas will attempt to offload a number of player who are not in his first-team plans. The likes of Scott Parker and Tom Huddlestone have been made available for transfer, but no offers have come in meeting the asking price.
