West Bromwich Albion have managed to bring in Marseille attacking midfielder Morgan Amalfitano on a season long loan, Sky Sports reports.

The Baggies have got off to a torrid start to the season and currently sit rock bottom of the table as they desperately seek to add more creative influence to the ranks. The club had made an initial approach for the 28-year-old last week, but it is only now that the two sides have been able to agree terms.

The French giants have now confirmed the deal to take him to the Hawthorns on a season long loan and intimated that the agreement will give Steve Clarke’s men the option to buy him next summer should they be happy with what they’ve seen.

The one-cap France international joined Marseille in 2011 from Lorient for a fee in the region of £4.5 million. In his two years at the club he has gone on to make 85 appearances, scoring three goals and creating 16 assists.

However, his time under coach Ellie Baup became sparse and he has now been deemed surplus to requirements at the Stade Velodrome.

West Brom continued their dire start to the season with a 2-0 defeat at home to Swansea City on Saturday.
