Though Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas spent over £100m on new players over the summer the Daily Mirror claim that the White Hart Lane boss is planning an ambitious move to sign AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy in January.

Villas-Boas apparently has money to spend in the next transfer window, which is perhaps not that surprising given that the North London club raked in over £80m from the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and perhaps the Tottenham boss feels his side could do with even more of a cutting edge up front.

Roberto Soldado has done well since signing for Tottenham from Valencia though Erik Lamela is still to be given his chance to shine and by all accounts Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor are expected to leave in January which would leave room for another striking addition.

This source claims that AC Milan would demand at least £20m for young Italian international El Shaarawy who last term scored 19 goals in all competitions, though the Daily Mirror believe that Juventus forward Fernando Llorente may be a more likely target.
