Goodison Park side make plans following possible departure of top performer.
Everton have reportedly targeted Valencia wide-man Andres Guardado as a potential replacement for much wanted England man Leighton Baines according to TuttoMercato.
Roberto Martinez did well to retain the services of the 29 year old left-back, who was the subject of failed bids from Man United, but may feel that his chances of holding onto the former Wigan Athletic man in the long term are slim and therefore making alternative plans is a sensible path to take.
Guardado plays further up the left hand side than Baines though given that the Everton man is more renowned for his creative attacking attributes such a move may well work out well.
The 26 year old moved to the Mestalla last summer having spent five successful seasons at Deportivo La Coruna and Guardado may well jump at the chance of a move to the English top tier.
The Guadalajara born winger would presumably cost less than the amount Everton hope to garner from a Baines sale and has more than enough top level experience to suggest he’d be an ideal candidate to fill the void left by the departure of the Toffees most bankable asset.
Guardado has 99 national team caps to his name.
