How CaughtOffside thinks England will line up against Montenegro on Friday night.
England will take on Montenegro on Friday evening in a crucial World Cup qualifier at Wembley Stadium.
The penultimate game in a must win for Roy Hodgson’s men, who could take a giant leap toward Brazil with a victory over the young Balkan nation, and Roy Hodgson could get some of the criticism off his back, for the time being anyway.
But how will they line up? This is how we feel the former Liverpool and Fulham man will set his Lions out.
GK: Joe Hart – Patchy City form, but most experienced ‘keeper in the squad.
RB: Kyle Walker – Deputising for the injured Glenn Johnson.
LB: Leighton Baines – It’s time for him to take over Cole’s role.
CB: Phil Jagielka – Leadership and en excellent understanding of positioning.
CB: Gary Cahill – Stand out performer from Ukraine.
DM: Michael Carrick – Anchor man to sit deep and look to release wide players.
CM: Jack Wilshire – Deserved starting spot despite recent indiscretions.
CM: Frank Lampard – Experienced head next to Wilshire, can score from anywhere.
LWF: Daniel Sturridge – Pace and trickery out wide to link up with Rooney.
RWF: Danny Welbeck – Same as Sturridge, pace will cause problems.
ST: Wayne Rooney – Lone man up top, will look to feed off wide men.
