AC Milan have finally completed the long awaited signing of Japanese international midfielder Keisuke Honda from CSKA Moscow, Sky Sports reports.

The 27-year-old, who will become a free agent at the end of the month, has agreed a deal to join the struggling Serie A side in the new year and in doing so becomes the club’s first signing of the winter.

Honda had been a long time target of the Rossoneri and had also been linked with a number of English sides during the summer window as Liverpool and Chelsea were both believed to be keeping tabs on his contract situation.

“Now we can say it,” Galliani told the club’s official website.

“From January 3, 2014, Keisuke Honda will be a Milan player.”

Honda joined the club from the Russian capital back in 2010 from Eredivisie side VVV Venlo and has developed into one of the world’s most wanted players, a case that was only enhanced by his impressive showing at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

During his time in Russia he bagged 28 goals in 121 appearances and could go straight into the Milan side to make his debut in the January 6 clash with Atalanta.
