Tottenham’s Jermain Defoe got off to a terrible start at Toronto FC by declaring ‘I’m happy to be in the USA’ at his first press conference.

The 31-year-old Spurs forward was presented to the press for the first time since his £6m move to the Canadian MLS outfit was announced last week.
Defoe is not due to officially join Ryan Nelsen’s side until 28 February and the England international must be hopeful the supporters can forget about his foolish blunder before the return of MLS in March.
The former West Ham and Portsmouth striker will reportedly earn a staggering £90,000-a-week with Toronto, making him the best paid player in MLS history, ahead of both Thierry Henry and David Beckham.
