The 23 year old Ivory Coast international is set to join the Toffees on a loan deal and will act as a short term replacement for Nikica Jelavic, who left for Hull City earlier this month.

Worries over a hamstring injury reportedly curtailed West Ham’s interest though Everton seem close to signing the giant 6ft 8in forward.

Everton are ready to apply for a work permit to bring in Traore having already welcomed in Aiden McGeady this month.

Boss Roberto Martinez will be keen to strengthen his squad as they continue their push for a top four finish and currently rely heavily on loaned in Chelsea man Romelu Lukaku for firepower.

Everton currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League, having lost just two matches this season, and a win over West Brom this evening would see the Merseyside club overtake local rivals Liverpool and into fourth spot.
